Africa’s Out! Are you In??

Celebrate and Shout Out for the Rights and Lives of African LGBTQ.

About Africa’s Out
We believe it is everyone’s right to live with dignity, to exist without fear, to choose whomever they please to love, and to speak powerfully and create meaningfully.  The recent criminalization of gays in Africa is making it dangerous and impossible for many simply to exist. Africa’s Out! is our sincere effort to counter this with joy, support, and celebration!

Hosted by Wangechi Mutu Studio, honoring Binyavanga Wainaina and benefitting UHAI EASHRI, with a live performance by Solange Knowles .  There will be a benefit auction of original artwork from top contemporary artists such as Julie Mehretu, Cindy Sherman, Marilyn Minter, Mickalene Thomas, Shirin Neshat, Kehinde Wiley, Wangechi Mutu and many more. This celebration is sure to drum up an exciting level of noise, love, awareness and funds for UHAI EASHRI so that the work they do for LGBTI East Africans can be continually enhanced in the lives and the minds of a wider population!

Main event will be held from 6-10pm with after-party 10pm-midnight, featuring a DJ set by Electric Punanny (Melo-X & Jasmine Solano) and live performance by a surprise guest.

Together, we wonder about the collective as well as individual muscles that must flex in order that we, as individuals and as groups, can assert our right to sexual pleasure, sexual autonomy, sexual health and sexual reproductive health.
