Bronx Council of the Arts BRIO Awards 2015

So pleased to have been awarded the BRIO Award (Bronx Recognizes its Own) by the Bronx Council of the Arts in support of my creative writing project ‘That Lady is a Stranger: Creative Nonfiction as Human Rights Monitoring and Method’. This collection of short stories centers around my experience as a human rights defender in Kigali, Freetown, Kinshasa, Utrecht and the Bronx.

Author Sin/Gin

SIN/GIN is preoccupied with stories about relationships between power, gender and sexuality. Together, we wonder about the collective as well as individual muscles that must flex in order that we, as individuals and as groups, can assert our right to sexual pleasure, sexual autonomy, sexual health and sexual reproductive health.
